Annotation

The Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI was formed in 1994 after a merger of the four orchestras of the RAI of Turin, Rome, Naples, and Milan. The oldest of these orchestras, the Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI, was founded in 1931 in Turin at the Teatro di Torino, and later joined by the orchestras of Rome, Milan, and Naples. RAI is the acronym for Radiotelevisione Italiana, the precursor of today's Radio Audizioni Italiane.
